INAIR Wakey Remote Wake-Up 2026: Setup and Hardware Limits
- von INAIR Official
How Does the INAIR Wakey Remote Wake-Up Work?
The INAIR Wakey is a specialized hardware dongle that allows you to wake up a sleeping PC from anywhere in the world and stream it to your AR glasses. Unlike standard "Wake-on-LAN" software, the Wakey acts as an independent network trigger. To function correctly, the Wakey must be plugged directly into a primary Type-C port on your computer's motherboard (not a USB hub) so it maintains standby power, and it must be connected to a stable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (it does not support 5GHz).
Why Hubs and Docks Break the Wakey
A frequent support question is: "I plugged the Wakey into my expensive Thunderbolt docking station, but it won't wake up my Mac/PC. Why?"
The Hardware Reality: When your computer goes to sleep, most docking stations and generic USB hubs cut power to their ports. If the Wakey loses power, it disconnects from your Wi-Fi and cannot receive the "Wake Up" signal from your INAIR Pod. The Solution: You must plug the Wakey directly into the laptop or desktop's native USB-C port, ensuring that the port supports "Always On" or standby power delivery.
The 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Requirement
During the initial setup via the INAIR Space PC app, you might see a "Network Connection Failed" error.
Want Remote PC Access Built In?
The Wakey pairs with the INAIR Pod, letting you wake and stream your PC from anywhere. For a complete setup with the Pod and glasses included, the INAIR 2 Elite Suite gets you there in one package.
