The curated perfection of social feeds can lead to social comparison and heightened anxiety, particularly among younger users. The pressure to perform a digital identity—to be always "on," witty, and attractive—creates a unique form of exhaustion.

The nuance of face-to-face conversation—body language, tone, immediate feedback—is often lost in text-based interaction, leading to misunderstandings and a coarsening of discourse. The anonymity or perceived distance of digital space can embolden hostile behavior, giving rise to cyberbullying and toxic communities. Yet, simultaneously, it has given a voice to the marginalized and created new forms of artistic and personal expression through memes, digital art, and viral content.
Digital interaction is the engine of the modern attention economy. If a service is free, the user and their data are often the product. Every click, hover, and scroll is a valuable data point, fed into sophisticated algorithms that build detailed psychological profiles. These profiles are used to personalize experiences, but more lucratively, to target advertising with terrifying precision. Our interactions are constantly mined, analyzed, and monetized.
This has given rise to new business models. Platform capitalism thrives by facilitating interactions between users—be they drivers and riders, hosts and guests, or creators and viewers. Value is generated not by owning assets but by controlling the digital space where these interactions occur. The path forward requires a conscious and collective effort to build an ethical framework for digital interaction.
